STYLE HELP
OFFICE AND FORMAL SUITS STYLE
What is the most important thing in a belt-belt for office and formal occasions?
The most important thing in a belt is the buckle.
Belts usually sold have a silver buckle with a similar design. As you may have experienced, ‘The colour of the belt is good for today's style, but the buckle is not...’.
We have a long history of being imprinted with the fact that belts usually have a silver buckle.
It is an item that we have become accustomed to, and we can't do anything about it even if we are dissatisfied with it. But please understand that the buckle is the key to co-ordination.
A coordinated look is completed with a buckle that matches today's style. At Elliot Rhodes, you will experience how much a single buckle can make a difference.
I think one belt for work is enough.
It is not enough; it is not enough. For example, you cannot have ten jackets and ten pairs of shoes and only one pair of trousers.
If you have 10 jackets and 10 pairs of trousers, you need several belts to match each styling.
However, until now there were no shops or sales outlets where I could choose a belt that suited my style, so I had a history of choosing one safe belt and using it all the time. Elliot Rhodes London offers around 200,000 possible combinations of buckles and straps.
Wearing a belt that suits your different styles and makes an impression is an important part of your work style.
Which width of belt is most suitable for work?
30 mm and 35 mm are suitable. A decade ago, 30 mm was the favourite, but these days 35 mm is the most popular.
The belt width must be chosen according to the silhouette, height and shape of the suit.
Suits with slim silhouettes and slender people prefer 30 mm, while standard suits and people with a good physique recommend 35 mm.
The tightening feeling is very good with 35 mm, although the difference is only 5 mm.
We recommend that you choose a belt width that suits your style, without being influenced by magazines or media publications.
My suit at work is usually a dark colour such as navy blue or black, but should the belt I wear be black and should my shoes also be black?
It depends on the work environment, but you will make a better impression if the colour of your belt matches the colour of the suit you wear.
This means a navy belt for a navy suit, a grey belt for a grey suit and a black belt for a black suit.
Shoes can then be any colour. Only the shoes should be colour separated to create a more pleasing styling.
Matching the colour of the belt and shoes is not an absolute rule of fashion. You can match them if you like, but if you match them too much, you will look like you are trying too hard.
If you are wearing a grey suit or trousers, a brown belt and brown shoes will give a good impression, but a black belt and black shoes will give an ‘old man’ look.
I bought a pair of brown shoes, but it is difficult to find a belt of the same colour.
Brown has a wide range of colour saturation, so it is not easy to find a belt of the same colour. Even if you can find a colour, if the belt does not match the taste of the shoes, you will get a ‘makeshift’ look. In the case of brown, pay attention to the shade. If you choose a gradient-coloured type, it will pick up the shades of the shoe colour well. Choose a colour that matches the lightness of the brown of the shoes you have.
Is it enough to have one belt of one colour?
The basics are there, but that is not enough. If you coordinate when you wear a navy blue belt, it can be stylish or casual. The same navy blue can have different shades and colour saturation. You need a navy blue belt to suit each style. If it is a black belt, it helps to have two belts, one glossy and one matte. Some colours you only need to have one of a colour and some colours you need more than one. It is important to choose one that coordinates with your own.
I have purchased a pair of shoes in a unique colour. Is it best to wear a belt of exactly the same colour?
Depending on the type of unique colour, it makes more of an impression to wear a belt that matches the colour of your trousers or suit. For example, if you wear a black suit, shirt and tie with red shoes, it is nicer to wear a black belt than to wear the same red belt. It is more stylish to let go of the colour only for the shoes, but wearing a red belt will make you look a bit like you are trying too hard.
What should I look out for when choosing a buckle?
Basically, there are two things to keep in mind when choosing the buckle of your choice.
Colour: Buckle colours include chrome silver, antique silver, chrome black, gunmetalic, hair lane silver, gold and antique gold.
The belt should not contrast too much with the strap colour for a good impression. In the summer season, some combinations are better in contrast.
Be aware that the belt is not the star of the show, but a supporting keystone.
Volume: the buckle can make an impression not only by its colour, but also by its size and length. Choose a buckle that suits your style and is well balanced.
Which belts are suitable for the Cool Biz season?
Cool Biz style should not be perceived as simply removing the jacket and tie.
Avoid using belts that show signs of use, as the position of the belt is a point of reference for the eye.
The key is to use a balanced combination of buckles and straps to suit your style.

I am looking for a belt for both work and private use. What type of belt should I choose?
You should not use the same belt for both work and private life.
The concept of clothing worn for work and private life is completely different.
What is the best colour for the first belt to wear with denim trousers?
For the first belt, we recommend browns and navy blues, which have a wide range of uses and are easy to use.
However, brown and navy blue belts come in a variety of colours and materials. The belt you choose will depend on the colour, shade and top of your denim trousers.
Choose according to your own style.
I am considering a second belt for private use. Which belt should I choose?
It is best to have belts in the colours you need in order, based on your daily co-ordination of clothes, shoes, etc. Instead of choosing the safest one, choose more belts that fit perfectly with your different outfits.
Can I wear a belt in fashionable colours?
It is good to embrace fashionable colours.
Wearing a belt in a trendy colour gives a good impression of timeless styling.
You can also use fashionable colours in your clothes to create a balanced look.
Are there any tips for choosing a casual belt?
It is important to strike a good balance between the strap and the buckle.
When choosing a buckle, there is a tendency to prioritise one's own taste and be too assertive.
This is not only the case with casual belts, but the buckle should be chosen with an emphasis on style and balance.
How do I choose the strap and buckle?
First select the colour of the strap and then choose a leather pattern from among the colours.
Do not leave the choice of buckle to your own taste, but choose a colour/design that balances and matches your style.
I have a large waist size, what is the maximum length?
The maximum length is 135 cm. We have nine sizes for men: XS, S, M, L, XL, 3L, 4L, 5L and 6L.
To accommodate smaller sizes, you can also customise it to be cut to your desired length.
RESORT CASUAL STYLE
Should I stick to belts at the resort?
Absolutely!
When you go out to the resort, you should choose a belt that matches the TPO of the place where you are staying.
Adding a nice belt style in an unusual place will make your trip more enjoyable.
Which belt to wear with shorts?
30 and 40 mm are recommended.
You do not need to be conscious of the colour of your shoes. It is nice to match the colour of the top polo shirt or T-shirt.
I need a golf belt, what combination of buckle and strap do I need?
Golf belts are great to match the colour of your trousers and tops, without being conscious of the colour of your shoes.
We recommend choosing a buckle with more individuality than usual and having fun with a buckle with a bold design that you would normally hesitate to use.
I want to use it for golf in the summer when temperatures are high, is this a problem?
No. Please avoid wearing it in high temperatures from late June to late September.
Although Elliot Rhodes London belts have relatively good colour fastness,
However, it is not recommended to wear them during this period due to the possibility of perspiration staining and colour fading on clothing.
The PERFOMANCE COLLECTION is water and sweat resistant, so we recommend that for golf when the temperature is high.
SHOES MATCHING
Matching belt and shoe colours is basic, isn't it?
It is not a rule of fashion to match the colour of your belt and shoes. You can match them if you like, but if you match them too much, you will look like you are trying too hard.
It is better to match the colour of the trousers and suit with the colour of the shoes to create a more impressive styling.
Should I match the material of the shoes and the belt?
It is better not to match the materials too much.
However, if you want to match suede or nubuck material, it would be nice to combine belt + trousers + shoes in the same colour.
Should I change the buckle depending on the shoe design?
There is no need to change the buckle depending on the shoe.
It is better styled if the buckle is chosen to match the overall atmosphere rather than the colour of the shoe or bit.
STORAGE & UPKEEP
How should the belt be stored?
It is recommended to store the belt after wearing it by rolling it up and not hanging it on a wall.
Storing belts does not have to be difficult. Elliot Rhodes belts do not require any maintenance.
How do I maintain my belt?
For plain nappa leather straps, nail scratches can occur. In this case, spread a thin layer of solid, colourless (matte) cream and wipe it off with a soft cloth.
・Avoid using cream on light or brightly coloured straps.
・For matte straps, be careful not to rub too much when wiping off, as this may cause the strap to become shiny.
・Avoid using cream on nubuck and suede, and lightly brush with a special brush.
Does the belt stretch after wearing?
It will stretch a little, although it depends on the material of the strap and how often it is used.
In this case, bring it to the shop or send it to us and we will cut it free of charge.
